So Newgrounds has always been a safespace for artists, and I'm very happy that its stayed with that creed for so long.
Being someone who was doofing around on the site as a kid in 2001, it opened my eyes to a lot of independent animation and paved the way for a lot of peeps to make their own stuff separate from a lot of coorporate bs.
There were a few cool animations/series at the time that would go the distance, but for the most part, everything was just viewed by this tight nit newgrounds community, and that still very much remains to this day. Newgrounds is getting an upsurgance due to YouTubes misunderstanding of copyright law, and other silly platform decisions all around, and ontop of that with my own sudden understandings, I no longer really give a single shit about "making" it in the industry. I just wanna make cool and fun stuff. Stuff that I would've seen back in NG in the days, just passion products of passion projects, even the shitposts.
As Newgrounds beings to resurge, and YouTube starts aflame ontop of their own horrible decisions (most recently and notably the SpongeoutofWater Collab) I can't help but fully realize what a beautiful community and idea Newgrounds has always been. While I still might post things to YouTube and other platforms moving forward, I know I can have a safe space here, and I know there is so much here to explore and discover again.
That being said, I'm moving back to Newgrounds and making it my home base.
Even if the numbers are lesser, the foundation is stronger.
